Hey, I’m Chris Freeman.
I’m a strategic technologist, builder, and lifelong retro gaming enthusiast. I’m also the mind behind Ctrl Alt Think — a blog that explores technology, culture, and the creative hacks that shape how we live and work.
A Career Built on Curiosity
Over the years, I’ve worked across startups, enterprise IT, compliance, and service design, helping organisations solve problems with smarter, more human-centred technology.
I build things, break them, fix them, and occasionally create something worth sharing. Whether I’m:
- Modding a retro console to keep it alive for another generation,
- Refining a digital experience so it works the way people expect, or
- Automating the boring stuff that should’ve been automated years ago…
…I’m always looking for more creative, practical ways to make tech work better.
What This Blog Is About
Ctrl Alt Think isn’t about chasing every new trend.
It’s about slowing down and asking the bigger questions:
- What technology is worth keeping?
- How do we balance innovation with nostalgia?
- And how can we use tools more intentionally in our work and lives?
You’ll find posts here on retro gaming hardware, Commodore computers, MiSTer FPGA builds, CRTs, and the odd essay on digital culture and IT strategy. It’s a mix of guides, reflections, and projects — part nostalgia trip, part modern rethink.
Why Ctrl Alt Think?
It’s more than a clever play on keyboard keys. It’s a mindset:
- Ctrl – Take control of your tools and ideas.
- Alt – Explore alternate ways of thinking.
- Think – Don’t just consume. Reflect, challenge, reboot.
That’s how I approach technology — whether it’s a 1980s Commodore 64 or a modern AI automation project.
